Experience the Luxe Amala Residence in Seminyak
This is what a holiday is meant to be like.
It was yet another hot and humid day in Bali when we found ourselves lounging at the reception, sipping on refreshingly cold welcome drinks, as we were effortlessly checked-in at our next hotel, the hidden paradise itself, The Amala. As our passports were handed back to us, the word 'upgrade' was mentioned and before long we were being ushered down a long walkway towards The Amala Residence. As the double wooden doors were swung open, we found ourselves in a beautiful three-bedroom villa that was no doubt too big for just the two of us (not that we were complaining).
The tranquility of The Amala continues right through to two-storey Residence, with its tall white walls lined with bamboo that provide both privacy and a lush ambience. Of course, it was the turquoise swimming pool that Brad and I were most interested in (and, admittedly, the WIFI), so as soon as we had completed our tour of the villa, we ordered lunch and enjoyed a dip in the pool; the perfect relief from the steaming heat around us.
We enjoyed our casual lunch in comfort in the open-air lounge overlooking the pool. Before long, we found ourselves going from the pool to the sun loungers to the balé (a Balinese day bed) for the remainder of the afternoon, with a cocktail or two in-between. This was how a holiday is meant to be.
After dinner in Seminyak, we arrived back at the Residence only to raid the complimentary minibar in the kitchen (do not leave without trying the homemade cookies!) and then retired to the master suite. I don't know whether it was the super comfy king-sized bed or the Balinese heat, but I seemed to fall asleep the moment my head touched the pillow.
Waking late the next morning to the trickle of the water feature outside, we ordered breakfast and, before long, our villa dining table was home to a delicious morning spread, straight from The Amala's very own Bamboo Restaurant.
Oh yes, we were enjoying villa life (and now we're thoroughly missing it!).
